Food Safety SupervisorDo you need qualifications to be the nominated Food Safety Supervisor in the hospitality industry?
This Statement of Attainment is for people working in the hospitality industry including Kitchen hands, Chefs or cooks, catering staff and food and beverage service.
The Food Act 2003 (NSW) requires certain food businesses in the NSW hospitality and retail food service sector to have at least one trained Food Safety Supervisor (FSS).
From 1 September 2015 to be certified as an FSS for a food premise in NSW and issued a valid certificate, a person must attain required units of competency from an approved RTO under the FSS program.

SITXFSA002 Participate in Safe Food Handling
Approved by the NSW Food Authority
Includes the three (3) main focus areas of the NSW FSS training as required by the NSW Food Authority:
- Safe egg handling
- Allergen management
- Cleaning and sanitising
Upon successful completion of assessment requirements you will receive the following:
- NSW FSS certificate
- National Statement of Attainment – SITXFSA001 Use Hygienic Practices for Food Safety
- National Statement of Attainment – SITXFSA002 Participate in Safe Food Handling Practices
Now Includes the Official NSW Food Authority COVID-19 Food Safety Supervisor Training Module.

What you will learn in the course
In this course students will learn how to identify and control food hazards, prevent contamination of food that may lead to food borne illnesses and accurately report on food contamination incidents and hygiene hazards. This course covers safe egg handling, allergen management, cleaning and sanitising required modules and also includes the new Official NSW Food Authority COVID-19 Food Safety Supervisor Training Module.
