Be a Food Safety Supervisor in the HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY

A set of skills to equip individuals in hygienic practices and handling food safely during the storage, preparation, display, service, and disposal of food.

In this course students will learn how to identify and control food hazards, prevent contamination of food that may lead to food borne illnesses and accurately report on food contamination incidents and hygiene hazards.

This course covers safe egg handling, allergen management, cleaning and sanitising required modules and also includes the new Official NSW Food Authority COVID-19 Food Safety Supervisor Training Module.

The unit applies to all organisations with permanent or temporary kitchen premises or smaller food preparation or bar areas.  It applies to food handlers who directly handle food or food contact surfaces such as cutlery, plates, and bowls during the course of their daily work activities. This includes cooks, chefs, caterers, kitchen stewards, kitchen hands, bar, and food and beverage attendants, and sometimes room attendants and front office staff.

The NSW hospitality and retail food service sector requires certain food businesses in to have at least one trained Food Safety Supervision (FSS). The Food Act 2003 (NSW).

Now Includes the Official NSW Food Authority COVID-19 Food Safety Supervisor Training Module.

Delivery

This course is delivered mainly by correspondence and includes the supply and marking of 1x knowledge assessment, supply and marking of case study assessments and the 1x 1hr onsite practical assessment delivered and graded within ITeC’s well-appointed training kitchen.

The Knowledge Based Test and Case Studies Assessment are to be completed and returned to Illawarra ITeC (either by email, post or drop-off). If completed successfully a Trainer will then be in contact to organise a time for the onsite Practical Assessment delivered in the Illawarra ITeC training kitchen at Wollongong. 

Duration

You will have 8 weeks to complete the course and submit your assessments in for marking.

You are welcome, to complete, in a quicker time frame.

$313.50 (includes emailed soft copy of learning resources and knowledge assessments).

$387.50 – (includes hard copy of learning resources – pick up from ITeC’s office or add $10 for postage if required).

Payment is required when you submit your completed Application for Course Enrolment Form. 

Learning and assessment materials will not be issued until full payment has been received.  Payment can be made over the phone using debit/credit card or pay in person at ITeC, 1-5 Miller Street, Coniston (8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday).  Please ring ITeC on 4223 3100 to speak to one of our staff to finalise your enrolment and arrange payment.
