Congratulations Jade Barrington on winning the 2022 NSW Training Award for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year. Jade was trained and mentored by Carole Burns at Illawarra ITeC.

Jade won the Illawarra / South East region title on 30 June, 2022 and then won the NSW title on 16 September, 2022. Jade will go to Adelaide in November to contest the Australian title.

As the NSW winner, Jade will be the 2022 ambassador for Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander future trainees. Her role is to travel the state of NSW encouraging young students to undertake a traineeship whilst at school or when they have left school.

Jade undertook a school-based traineeship at ITeC to support her entry into university to become a Primary School Teacher. Jade studied a Certificate II in Business Services and has gained invaluable knowledge, experience and confidence through working with the NSW Department of Education.

Jade spends her own time volunteering to tutor younger students at the Wreck Bay Community Centre.

Illawarra ITeC sends a huge round of applause to Jade and Carole for all their hard work and dedication. Congratulations Jade!. We wish you all the best on your future endeavours.
