Introduction to the fast-growing and diverse world of the TRADES SECTOR

ITeC’s ‘Tradie Taster’ Program is the perfect hands-on introduction to the fast-growing and diverse world of the Trades sector, engaging hands and minds, and thinking critically and creatively. The programs on offer will allow students to get a “taste” of a range of trades to enable them to get a better understanding of the skills required to obtain employment in that trade.

Specifically designed for secondary school students, community groups and disengaged youth, and with a choice of 1, 2 and 3-day programs, these interactive courses taught by skilled and qualified industry professionals will see participants learning about safe work practices, handling of tools, and completing a small trades project.

Tradie Taster programs can deliver separate or combined streams from the following vocations:

Carpentry
Construction
Civil Construction
Bricklaying
Plumbing

Geography is no issue with a choice of training delivery at ITeC’s main campus in Wollongong, or at your school, campus or community hub. ITeC can provide all necessary materials, tools and safety equipment, or work with materials that the customer provides. We also have a mobile training unit that enables students to gain experience and confidence in confined space and working at heights training, and a small excavator. Both can be available upon request.

With an ever-growing list of partners in the trades industry, ITeC’s program can lead into an apprenticeship via the accredited Certificate II in Construction for eligible participants, or possibly through an School-Based Apprenticeship/Traineeship for those still in secondary school.

Participants that complete the course will receive a successful participation certificate for their portfolios.

Gain experience and confidence in confined space and working at heights training.
